At hybris we think that social media is, and will continue to be, an important topic for retailers. Beyond the prominent privacy concerns (Pinterest & Instagram T&C changes, Facebook generally), the Facebook IPO hype and seemingly weekly tabloid media stories, the fact remains that social media has the eyes of consumers. A retailer ignoring social media is the one not opening a store in the world’s busiest shopping mall just open down the street, a mall full of people talking about brands. Around a third of online referral traffic comes through sharing and so it follows that we think that social media done properly provides highly qualified potential customers.
Our approach at hybris is to our customers to manage their own social experience. By building a set of fully parameterised WCMS components we think we’ve done just that, our customers can now drive sales through Pin This/Like/Tweet content syndication and begin building community engagement functionality through Facebook Comments. Each WCMS component is tied closely tied to a social plugin and can be edited in the same way as any other content component.
