We’ve been thinking about Google Glass commerce use cases for a while.
Our first idea was along the lines of “Ok glass, buy this” or “Ok, glass, is this in stock?”. Both of these we could’ve achieved but the more we thought about it, the more we realised that while we believe that wearable computing will play a big role in how we shop, that time is not now. We think the adoption of Glass is likely to take some time due to the restricted availability of the product and the cost.
So we thought some more.
In a way Glass is on a similar trajectory to the cell phone and will, we think, follow a similar adoption path. Early cell phones remember, had some of the same attributes: they were expensive and slightly awkward devices. Cell phone adoption began in the enterprise and that’s where we think Glass usage may initially flourish.
So we thought some more and eventually settled on this b2e story. Take a look at the future of customer service, we think it’s pretty cool.
