This year’s Customer Days in Chicago took place from May 7th to 9th at Venue SIX10, on South Michigan Avenue. And what a lovely view we had from the terrace on the 10th floor…

But we were there do some some work of course! The Labs team arrived on the Tuesday (May 6th) to set up all the demos in good time. Seven prototypes were to be presented at this event: Augmented Reality, In-Store Display, Stream, Glass, NFC Wall (B2B) and our two latest achievements Shopping with Friends and the Wine Shelf. So we had quite a bit to do until Wednesday evening, but luckily our booth builder Tom Jandersit and his team did a fantastic job and helped us where they could, always with a smile on the face. Thanks for that!

Our biggest concern was the Wine Shelf. This was actually going to be the first time all parts were put together. The hardware was constructed in the U.S. by Tom and his crew. We brought the electronics along and wired it up, hoping that everything had survived the journey without any damage. A propos electronics, wiring and journey… how on earth did we manage to get all of this through security at the airport without any kind of hold-up?! (pic 3) Very reassuring…

Wednesday late afternoon all systems were up and running, which allowed us to relax a little, enjoy the evening reception and make some of our customers very curious about the demos they were going to see the next day. Okay, we were that excited ourselves about the Wine Shelf that we happily granted some customers a sneak peek.

Thursday was the big day. Sven, Paul, Scott and Nick were on their feet presenting, explaining and listening. Our customers reacted very positively towards the entire Labs exhibition space and were eager to discuss alternative scenarios in which the various prototypes could prove to be useful. They gave us ideas for improvement, but also expressed concerns and constructive criticism. Very gratifying for us was to experience a specific interest some companies had in adopting and implementing our solutions. There may be some customer projects on the way here. Calls for initial discussions have already been scheduled…
All in all the Americas’ Customer Days 2014 in Chicago were a very successful event for hybris Labs. The event clearly showed that many customers are obviously interested in not only learning about the possibilities that arise with new and innovative technologies, but are becoming increasingly interested in assessing ways of implementing these kinds of solutions.
