The Foundry Munich celebrated the end of it’s very first Customer Experience cohort with a grand finale at Palais Lenbach. The posh venue was the perfect setting to host the 130+ guests: colleagues, partners, customers, investors, and the many mentors and trainers who made it all possible.
Fresh from the Foundry Tel Aviv Demo Day – literally the day before – executives Alexa Gorman (SVP, SAP.iO Foundries EMEA) and Ram Jambunathan (SVP, Managing Director – SAP.iO) gave rousing overviews detailing the organization’s initiatives and strategic importance for the startups, SAP, and customers.
Philippe Souidi (Head of the Munich Foundry) talked about the cohort’s achievements and introduced each founder for their final pitches: Dotaki, rapitag, ViewAR, presize, parcelLab, 8select, and Expivi. It was incredibly impressive to see how far they’ve come in such a short period of time; for instance, all of the startups are now SAP PartnerEdge Build certified, have integrated to SAP Commerce Cloud and made significant progress with other solution integrations, and will soon be available on the SAP App Center.

One week later, the Foundry Berlin held their Fintech Demo Day in a unique fashion: as part of the TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin conference. The two-day event featured interesting keynotes and panel discussions with accomplished entrepreneurs and innovation experts, competitions like a hackathon and TechCrunch’s famous Startup Battlefield, and exhibitions from over 120 companies in the Startup Alley. SAP.iO had its own special pavilion to showcase their six companies: AiVidens, Iristrace, PXL Vision, Spherity, Hanko, and troy. Foundry Munich graduate presize was also present, as part of the AI and Machine Learning section.
It was great to see the diverse teams and solutions from the FinTech cohort, especially how the convergence of impactful technologies and resourceful business models addressed a variety of industries. And conference attendees were quite receptive to SAP’s engagement with entrepreneurs, as evidenced by the crowd during and after the introduction and calls-to-action from Alexa, Christian Boos (SAP Startup Engagement), and Deepak Krishnamurthy (SAP Chief Strategy Director).
Both Demo Days were fantastic opportunities to share all the work that has gone into SAP.iO’s accelerator programs, to congratulate our startups and supporters for their efforts, and to kickoff what promises to be fruitful partner relationships and value-added for customers. Not a bad wrap-up to 2019 after all!
